What is RSS?

RSS is a web content syndication format, its name is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication.

RSS is a dialect of XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and is a method of propagating news announcements and information around the internet. To use an RSS feed the user will need a means of reading the feed and this is done using an RSS reader. These are available in various forms ranging from standalone programmes to plug-ins for your browser. Also, the latest versions of well known browsers, now have a feed reader built in as standard.
